Clear Bag Policy

CLEAR BAG POLICY

May 2 2017

Most American Sports Stadiums have had a clear bag policy in place since 2013. I recently looked at The NFL Stadium Clear Bag policy which strictly limits the size and types of bags that are permitted to brought into the stadium.

The above video produced by the stadium sets this out.

Backpacks, purses (other than small clutches), and diaper bags are not permitted. University of Phoenix Stadium strongly encourages fans to not bring any bags, however the following will be permitted:

  • Each fan may carry one bag that is clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC no larger than 12” by x 6” x 12” or a one-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar).
  • In addition to one of the clear bags noted above, fans may also carry in a small clutch purse/bag no larger than 4.5″ x 6.5″, with or without a handle or strap, subject to search.
  • Each ticket holder, including children, will be able to carry an approved clear bag and a clutch purse.
  • Diapers (known as nappies in the UK!!) and wipes can be carried in approved clear bags (diaper bags are not permitted)

Metal detector screening and searching is still being carried out on entry at the stadium gates. There are no provisions available at the stadium to store or safeguard any prohibited bags. Fans are asked to return prohibited items to their cars.

To facilitate the change NFL will send out a free bag to every season ticket holder.

This process seems to have been willingly accepted by the American sports fans visiting their favourite teams stadiums.

I would be interested to hear from my colleagues about how they feel this would be accepted at UK Stadiums and Arenas?
